Role Overview
The IT Infrastructure Team Leader will oversee and maintain the organisation's IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless operation of networks, datacentres, cloud environments, and telecommunications systems. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to provide advanced support to both local and international teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Management: Manage and support the organisation's wired and wireless networks, including Internet connectivity and site-to-site connections.
- Datacentre & Cloud Support: Oversee local datacentres (Production and DR) and administer cloud-based environments, ensuring the reliability of servers, firewalls, routers, switches, and other critical hardware appliances.
- Backup & Business Continuity: Implement and support data/server backup and replication strategies, assisting the IT team in maintaining the Business Continuity Plan for infrastructure systems.
- Telecommunications Oversight: Manage the telecommunications infrastructure, coordinating with external providers to escalate and resolve support issues efficiently.
- Technical Support: Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for IT infrastructure issues locally and internationally, liaising with suppliers for escalated matters beyond internal resolution.
- Vendor Relations: Maintain strong relationships with infrastructure vendors, ensuring SLAs are adhered to and met consistently.
- On-site Inspections & Documentation: Conduct regular visits to datacentres to report critical issues and maintain comprehensive IT infrastructure documentation.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: IT degree specialising in IT Infrastructure/Engineering, with relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MCSA, or MCSE.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in IT Infrastructure/IT Security, including at least 1 year as a team leader with experience in IT systems implementation and maintenance.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required. Knowledge of Maltese is an asset.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, capable of conveying complex technical information effectively.
- Interpersonal Skills: Team-oriented, with the ability to support and motivate colleagues while working collaboratively.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in systems and network administration (Cisco switches, firewalls, routers), Microsoft Server technology, Active Directory, SQL Server, Exchange, DHCP, DNS, IIS, Microsoft Office 365 suite, Symantec End-Point Protection, VMWare ESX, Veeam Backup, Symantec Backup Exec, PowerShell scripting, VPN technologies, TCP/IP, and IPSEC. Knowledge of Linux environments is an advantage.
- Organisation: Strong organisational and project management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Self-Motivated: Able to work independently, demonstrating initiative and accountability in completing tasks.
- Problem-Solving: Adept at diagnosing and resolving technical issues efficiently, with a proactive approach to preventing system disruptions.
