Accountant
Salvo Grima Group is a dynamic group of companies specialising in international distribution, retail, wholesale and ship supply. Our Group was established in 1860 and employs over 260
people in eight countries in Europe and Africa.
We are currently seeking a full-time Accountant to join our growing finance team based in
Marsa. This role is answerable to the Finance Manager and is part of a team based at our Malta Head Office in Marsa from where we coordinate our international operations
Main tasks and responsibilities
The duties include:
- Supervising the maintenance of subsidiary ledgers and other financial records of one or more business units;
- Supervising accounts officers;
- Preparing of Management Accounts & Budgets
- Supporting the Finance Manager of assigned business units and team members where
required; - Preparing VAT returns and financial data required for official bodies and Government
departments; - Liaising with the group’s auditors and other business units service providers;
- Liaising with local and international banks, prepare up-to-date bank balances, debtor and creditor positions, and other financial data;
- Contributing to the ongoing development and strengthening of internal controls.
Educational and skill requirements
The ideal candidate:
- Is detail-oriented, accurate and motivated;
- Has the ability work on own initiative as well as part of a team;
- Has acquired or is in the process of acquiring the ACCA qualifications or any other
comparable recognized Accounting qualification; - Is fluent in written and spoken English;
- Knowledge of Arabic and/or French would be considered an asset (but is not essential).
- Ability to travel is an asset (travel is not frequent).
- Relevant experience in an international or export-oriented company would be an asset
