Automation Technician

Our client is a leader in banknote security technology that specializes in designing and manufacturing secure banknotes for global central banks.

The company's branch in Malta plays a crucial role in global operation, focusing on the latest in high-security printing technology and innovation, serving as a key player in the production and design process.

Automation Specialist will ensure the maximum possible availability of production facilities by the most effective deployment of resource to the maintenance of the plant, equipment and machinery.

Furthermore, the ideal candidate will provide the necessary technical expertise and support in the Electrical / Electronic field when it comes to Programmable Logic Controllers and related machinery equipment.


Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
  • Electronic Engineering certification from a recognized institute
  • Proven track record for electronics fault finding
  • Proven expertise in programmable logic controller (PLC) such as Siemens, Mitsubushi, and / or Allen Bradley
  • Well versed in the use of well known office applications, e.g. Microsoft Office suite
  • Proven experience within a production / manufacturing environment and ability to have a hands-on approach to better assist the engineering team
  • Good ability to communicate to technical and non-technical audiences

Key Activities:
  • Be a technical reference point to colleagues when it comes to in depth fault-finding in the sequential logic of the machine.
  • Delivers machine / process / infrastructural related sizeable projects which contribute to an improved process QCD and / or HSE matrix. Project management involves design, procurement, build, installation, validation and commissioning.
  • Provides technical training to Maintenance / Operations.
  • Communicates in form of handover to shoulder shifts and by means of written reports and / or presentations.
  • Provides technical documentation for new projects, installations and/or modifications.
  • Liaise directly with OEM and generic suppliers.
  • Lead Acceptance Tests on behalf of the company at OEM and manufacturing sites.
  • Maintain an in-depth and up to date knowledge of the extent of major breakdowns and progress of works. Be able to assess the likely condition, duration and completion time for major breakdowns and report to his manager.
  • Embraces the principles of Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance and the need for Continuous Improvement.
