Deli Counter Attendant (Gozo)
The Deli Counter Attendant is responsible for providing excellent customer service at the deli counter by preparing, slicing, weighing, packaging, and displaying deli products. This role involves maintaining a clean and organized work area, offering product recommendations, and ensuring food safety standards are met at all times.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet customers warmly and assist with deli product selections.
- Slice, cut, weigh, and package meats, cheeses, and prepared foods according to customer requests.
- Provide knowledgeable recommendations and answer questions about products, ingredients, and preparation methods.
- Maintain fresh and visually appealing deli displays.
- Ensure proper labeling, pricing, and rotation of products following FIFO (First In, First Out) standards.
- Uphold all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene guidelines.
- Clean and sanitize work surfaces, equipment, and utensils regularly.
- Operate deli equipment safely, including slicers, scales, ovens, and fryers (if applicable).
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate stock needs to management.
- Handle customer payments and operate the POS system (if required).
- Deliver friendly, efficient service and resolve customer concerns promptly.
Educational and skill requirements
Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous customer service or food service experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and handling procedures is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Basic math skills for weighing and pricing products.
- Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
