Volunteering is one of the most important manifestation of social activity and active citizenship, which is becoming even more necessary in an age where traditional community functions may be weakening. To ensure that volunteer organizations are supported in their work, programs and services need to be offered in support of both the organisation as well as the individual volunteer. Motto-of-Volunteer-Centres The Volunteer Centre will serve primarily to foster and develop volunteerism in the community as a whole as well as support small and medium sized voluntary organisation in their operation. In general it will support four main areas: The promotion of volunteerism, capacity building for effective local volunteering, provide leadership on issues relating to volunteerism, support networking between VOs and connect people, and serve as a base from which small and medium voluntary organisations can operate. The premises are the responsibility of and owned by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector and will be run in respect of the surrounding area and the city that would host it. For this purpose the use of environmental friendly measures for the generation of electricity will be introduced. The Centre will also be run in financially viable way with the intention of sustaining its own running.

Finance Support Officer

The overall responsibility of the Finance Officer within the MCVS is to support the Finance Senior Manager in managing and coordinating finances and finance procedures. In this respect, the Finance Officer must maintain oneself regularly updated on issues relevant to the carrying out of one’s duties.

Key Duties

The Finance Officer is to support the Finance Senior Manager in the following tasks:

• Finance

• Running of all MCVS accounting systems.

• Keeping on a daily basis a financial record of all income and expenditure of MCVS.

• Issuing of and receiving payments for MCVS.

• Coordinate with MCVS appointed external accountants on a regular basis providing them with a monthly income and expenditure account to be reconciled monthly by the same accountants.

• Coordinate with MCVS appointed external accountants on a regular basis providing them with a monthly status of attendance for the issuance of staff salaries.

• Keep an updated filing system, properly documented, on all financial transactions.

• The issuance of request for quotes, expression of interest and public tenders by MCVS.

• The evaluation committee in relation to adjudication of expression of interest or tender.

• Preparing results, contract, and any other documentation in relation to expression of interest or tender.

▪ Participates in internal committee meetings as directed by Finance Senior Manager.

▪ Respects the MCVS Manual of Internal Control Procedures, the MCVS Code of Ethics and any other circulars issues by MCVS management from time to time.

▪ Respects deadlines as set by MCVS management.
