Japanese Street Food Junior Chef

We are looking for a skilled and passionate Japanese Street Food Junior Chef to join our culinary team.
You will be responsible for preparing and cooking food in front of guests on a hot iron griddle, delivering not only delicious street food meals but also an engaging and entertaining dining experience.
Your role will require a combination of culinary expertise, showmanship, and customer service skills to ensure guests enjoy a memorable street food meal.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Japanese cuisine, particularly in teppanyaki-style cooking, and be comfortable performing in front of an audience.
You should be able to handle high-pressure environments, maintain cleanliness and safety standards, and work well with other kitchen staff. Creativity, precision, and a passion for food presentation are essential.
In this role, you will prepare a variety of meats, seafood, rice and vegetables using teppanyaki techniques. You will also interact with guests, answer questions about the menu, and accommodate special dietary requests when possible.
Your ability to create a fun and welcoming atmosphere will be key to your success.

  • Maintain cleanlines and organization of the cooking area.
  • Engage and entertain guests during meal preparation.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff and servers.
  • Customize dishes based on guest dietary needs.
Educational and skill requirements
  • Proven experience as a Japanese Street Food Junior Chef or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine and cooking techniques.
  • Excellent knife skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to perform in front of an audience.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training preferred.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods.
