Role Overview
The Payroll Executive will form part of the Finance function, taking ownership of payroll administration while working closely with the HR team to ensure accurate and timely processing. This role requires a meticulous and dependable professional who can operate confidently in a fast-moving environment, ensuring employees are paid correctly and in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Administration: Manage the end-to-end payroll cycle on a bi-weekly basis, ensuring all calculations are processed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Employee Support: Serve as the primary contact for payroll-related queries, providing clear guidance and resolving discrepancies in a professional and timely manner.
- Data Management & Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll and HR records, ensuring adherence to internal controls, company procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Reconciliation & Verification: Review timesheets, shift schedules, wage calculations, and supporting documentation to identify inconsistencies and rectify any payroll variances.
- Financial Collaboration: Support the Finance department with payroll-related cost analysis and reporting, while assisting with additional duties as delegated by the Finance Manager.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: A relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field would be considered an asset.
- Experience: Minimum of one year’s experience in a payroll or similar finance-related position is required.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain payroll matters clearly and professionally.
- Interpersonal Skills: A collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively within a team while also handling responsibilities independently.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential. Familiarity with payroll software, particularly Shireburn Indigo, will be considered advantageous.
- Organisation: Excellent organisational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Self-Motivated: A proactive and reliable individual who demonstrates professionalism and takes initiative within a dynamic environment.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail, capable of identifying discrepancies and resolving issues efficiently, even under pressure.
