About the Role
We are currently looking for a warranted Psychologist to join our new research project for a definite period of 22 months (ending 28th February 2027) on a full-time/part-time basis. The educational/clinical psychologist is sought to assist with research on disability and psychological factors. Responsibilities include participant assessments (e.g., verbal/non-verbal intelligence, memory, theory of mind), evaluating the impact of accessible travel on individuals with neurodevelopmental and intellectual disabilities, and maintaining ethical standards. The role involves close collaboration with the research team and requires travel to support participant wellbeing during excursions.
What you'll be doing
- Plan, design, and conduct assessments of participants with disabilities regarding variables such as non-verbal and verbal intelligence, working memory, theory of mind, mental and psychological wellbeing, functional status, etc.
- Assess and evaluate participants with regards to inclusion criteria and suitability for participation in the project activities.
- Accompany project-related excursions and experiences in Malta and Sicily to ensure and evaluate the mental and psychological wellbeing of the participants and to assess the rehabilitative value of the experiences.
- Assist in the evaluation of the research projects and their activities.
- Support the quality assurance of assessments, data collection, and other research-related activities.
- Assist in and support the preparation of research reports, protocols, scientific papers, and conference contributions.
- Support the preparation and conducting of focus groups and workshops with and for persons with disabilities.
What we’re looking for
An empathetic and compassionate warranted professional with excellent observation and analytical skills and open-minded approach, ideally exposed to the disability sector.
Qualifications & Experience
- A qualification of MQF level 7 as certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) in educational or clinical psychology or relevant field.
- Warranted (EU state recognized) in educational or clinical psychology.
- Experience in the cognitive, psychological, and functional assessment of individuals using standardised psychometric tests.
- Previous experience in working with persons with neurodevelopmental or intellectual disabilities (e.g. autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, Down syndrome, etc.) will be considered as an advantage.
- High proficiency in the English language (C1 level both spoken and written).
- Willingness to travel.
