Senior Data Developer

GRADE: SENIOR OFFICER​

The Section

The FIAU is seeking to strengthen its Data Management & Analytics section through the recruitment of a Senior Data Developer. The section is tasked with:​

  • The administration of the Centralised Bank Account Register (CBAR) - a data collection and retrieval system for information on bank accounts
  • The management of data as an asset from which the FIAU can derive ongoing insight
  • The analysis of data across different domains to support in the compilation of statistics and risk analysis
Main tasks and responsibilities

As a Senior Data Developer within the Data Management & Analytics section, the candidate will be primarily responsible for assisting in data warehousing initiatives, and other related projects.

This may include: ​

  • Assist in the development of a data warehouse solution, including:
    - Implementing data pipelines for optimal extraction, loading and transformation of data (ETL) from a variety of sources
    - Developing the data warehouse schema and data model
    - Maintaining version control
    - Testing data pipelines to ensure proper functioning of the warehouse
    - Monitoring data quality
  • Understand business logic and data definitions from source systems and ensure these are properly reflected within the data warehouse documentation
  • Work closely with data analysts and other stakeholders to define data requirements and optimise data pipelines
  • Collaborate with the in-house technology team, system owners, and other stakeholders in line with section’s remit
Educational and skill requirements
  •  An MQF Level 6 qualification in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Analytics or other relevant fields, coupled with at least 4 years’ experience relevant to this post ; OR
  • An MQF Level 5 qualification in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Analytics or other relevant fields coupled with at least 5 years’ work experience relevant to this post
  • ​Preference will be given to candidates who possess:
    - Proven experience in data warehousing principles (including data modelling and ETL)
    - Coding skills (preferably, C# or similar) and data querying skills (preferably, T-SQL)
    - Familiarity with basic DevOps practices (including Git and CI/CD); cloud computing platforms (preferably Azure); and modern data orchestration tools (such as Data Factory and Azure Synapse)
