Senior System Engineer

We are looking for a Senior System Engineer to join our IT team and play a key role in managing, securing and modernising LifeStar's infrastructure environment.

The successful candidate will have strong experience in Windows and Linux infrastructure, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, networking, cloud platforms and security technologies, with the ability to work across on-premises and cloud environments.

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Design, implement and maintain secure, reliable and scalable IT infrastructure.
  • Manage Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, Entra ID, Intune and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Manage and optimise Microsoft Azure and AWS infrastructure and services.
  • Support and lead infrastructure migration, modernisation and cloud transformation initiatives.
  • Manage network infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, switches and related technologies. 
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, SIEM and security integrations.
  • Implement and manage RMM and endpoint management solutions.
  • Develop and maintain scripts, automation and technical solutions to improve infrastructure and operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, security and system issues.
  • Work with internal teams, vendors and technology partners to deliver infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain technical documentation, standards and operational procedures.
  • Ensure infrastructure changes follow appropriate security, governance and change management processes.
  • Provide clear and timely reporting to management on infrastructure status, risks, incidents and projects.
Educational and skill requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems or infrastructure engineering.
  • Strong experience with Windows Server and Linux.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Group Policy (GPO) management and administration.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Intune.
  • Proven experience managing Azure and AWS environments.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP.
  • Experience with SIEM, security monitoring and centralised logging.
  • Experience with endpoint management and/or RMM solutions.
  • Strong PowerShell and scripting skills.
  • Experience with infrastructure migration, hybrid environments and cloud transformation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to report clearly and proactively to management.
  • Strong team mindset and willingness to collaborate, share knowledge and support colleagues.
  • Experience in a regulated environment and relevant security or IT governance knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Relevant Microsoft, Azure, AWS or security certifications would be considered an advantage.
