Senior Technican

Industrial Motors are seeking to employ a full time Senior Technician to join our team. If you are passionate about cars, then this is the right job for you.

The Senior Technician is responsible to diagnose technical, mechanical, and electrical faults and to carry out servicing and repairs of vehicles in an efficient and effective manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. In addition, the Senior Technician is responsible in assisting the Garage Manager and supporting other employees through the delivery of specialized internal training.

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Examine vehicles to determine the extent of damage or malfunctions and to be able to know what is required for the repairs.
  • Carry out diagnosis using specialized equipment.
  • Carry out full and partial replacement/repairs of wiring harnesses in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that servicing and repairs are carried out within the stipulated time schedules and in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Perform road tests when and as necessary.
  • Carry out duties in a cautious manner to avoid causing any accidental damages to vehicles and their components while in our possession.
  • Ensure that works carried out on vehicles are reported on the job cards including any new faults and servicing requirements.
  • Review and discuss work orders with superiors and plan work procedures in accordance with technical manuals. 
  • Update the Workshop and Aftersales Manager on the general condition of the vehicle and report any safety hazard and current/possible future faults.
  • Update Workshop Loading. Protect customer vehicles and their contents at all times using the appropriate protection i.e. seat covers, steering wheel covers, floor mats and wing protectors.
  • Make use of protective clothing and equipment provided by the company.
  • Strictly adhere to the company’s policies and the health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure the proper handling of tools, equipment and parts and the correct disposal of the latter as necessary.
  • Keep the work area clean and tidy ensuring a healthy and safe working environment.
  • Stay informed on new vehicle models, manufacturer’s technical specifications and franchise standards.
  • Attend specialized training locally or abroad as required.
  • Deliver training to other employees and offer support with higher level technical problems as necessary.
  • Carry out any additional duties assigned by the Workshop Manager from time to time.

Educational and skill requirements
  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Excellent communication
  • Teamwork
  • Fluency in Maltese and English
  • Computer Literate
  • In-house training will be given but a flair for cars is essential.
