Diar il-Bniet is a renowned restaurant and agritourism destination in Dingli, Malta, celebrated for its authentic Maltese cuisine and warm hospitality. We are currently seeking a Sous Chef to support our kitchen operations and contribute to delivering high-quality dishes and memorable culinary experiences. This role is ideal for a passionate culinary professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys both kitchen operations and guest interaction

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations
  • Prepare, cook, and present high-quality Maltese and Mediterranean dishes
  • Maintain consistency, quality control, and presentation standards
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations
  • Support stock management, ordering, and cost control
  • Supervise and support junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment
  • Assist in menu development, seasonal specials, and culinary events
  • Deliver and support hands-on cooking classes and culinary experiences for guests
  • Contribute to creating a warm and engaging guest experience
Educational and skill requirements
  • Previous experience in a professional kitchen (Maltese/Mediterranean cuisine preferred)
  • Strong cooking, organisational, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Good communication skills and confidence in guest interaction
  • Food Handling Licence A
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and special events
  • Passion for Maltese gastronomy and locally sourced ingredients
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and strong attention to detail
  • Experience in delivering cooking classes or demonstrations is considered an asset
