Steel Fixer

Working hours: Full Time
Reports to: Precast Production Supervisor

The Steel Fixer is responsible ensuring work progresses in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring materials are used correctly. The

Steel Fixer is also responsible to ensuring the required quality standards are followed through the production process.

Individual Key Objectives:

• Constructing forms for specific precast concrete products in conformance with architectural specifications and client requirements.
• Assembling metal structures ensuring correct steel thickness and arrangement is used in accordance with the specific item being moulded.
• Pouring concrete, ensuring mould is filled correctly using the appropriate methods.
• Working in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ensuring materials are used correctly and efficiently.
• Notifying and report all components, materials and consumables used.
• Keeping the workstation clean and safe at all times.
• Using specialised tools provided effectively and ensuring optimum use and best safe practices.
• Any other duties commensurate with the level of this post as may be assigned from time to time.

Working Conditions:

• To have a flexible approach and be ready to work irregular working hours as and when requested
• Ensure that the workshop facilities, equipment and tools are kept clean, tidy and maintained, reflecting the image of an efficient dealership
• Support the development of character, skills, attitude and superior individual and team performance
• To meet the clients exigencies
• Position will entail heavy-lifting and could be exposed to adverse weather conditions
• General working hours 6:30 to 15:00 (Excluding Overtime, could include working at night depending on business exigencies).

Personal Characteristics, Skills & Experience:

• Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing in Maltese and English, in order to be able to report adequately to superiors and to form good relations. Conversant in the Italian language would be considered an asset
• Ability to work effectively in a team, including the ability to respond to the needs of team members and provide them with assistance as and when required.
• To be able to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
• To be open and honest at all times
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with third parties
• To have a flexible approach to work commitments at all times
• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience preferably in a similar industry

Financial Limits of Authority:

• Set as per purchasing authority document released by the Finance Department
