Role Overview
Heroix is collaborating with a growing technology-driven organisation seeking a commercially astute and operationally capable professional to take ownership of its Messaging and Digital Services function. This position blends technical platform oversight with commercial responsibility and strategic input. The successful candidate will supervise messaging operations delivered via a SaaS environment to a Mobile Network Operator, while also contributing to broader business activities, regulatory coordination, and future service expansion initiatives. This is a pivotal appointment offering substantial progression potential for an individual who demonstrates initiative, accountability, and leadership capability.

Key Responsibilities

• Messaging Operations Management: Oversee the configuration, supervision, and optimisation of SMS-related services including bulk messaging, API connectivity, SMPP integrations, and two-way communication flows; track delivery performance, routing efficiency, and key operational metrics; address service irregularities and ensure uninterrupted platform functionality in coordination with external technology partners.
• Cross-Functional Business Support: Provide operational guidance across additional business streams; streamline internal workflows; enhance documentation standards; and assist in the rollout of new service capabilities or operational frameworks.
• Commercial & Contract Oversight: Participate in the evaluation and negotiation of commercial terms with suppliers and clients; monitor cost structures and revenue margins; review contractual documentation; support tender submissions; complete due diligence documentation; and coordinate with external parties during audit processes.
• Compliance & Governance Coordination: Lead internal alignment for regulatory and information security initiatives, including ISO standards (such as ISO 27001), data protection requirements, digital operational resilience frameworks, and network security directives; facilitate risk assessments and business continuity planning; and act as liaison between consultants, auditors, and business stakeholders.
• Business Development & Strategic Expansion: Identify and assess opportunities beyond traditional messaging services, including telecom-adjacent and API-driven solutions; cultivate partnerships with new providers and clients; contribute to the development of innovative service offerings; and support feasibility analysis for potential new ventures.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

• Education: A degree in IT, Business, or a related discipline would be considered an asset.
• Experience: A minimum of 4 years’ experience within telecommunications, messaging ecosystems, SaaS environments, CPaaS solutions, or digital service operations. Practical exposure to messaging protocols such as SMPP and API integrations is highly desirable. Experience collaborating with outsourced technology providers and familiarity with compliance frameworks will be advantageous. Exposure to commercial contract review is beneficial.
• Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
• Communication Skills: Able to convey technical and commercial information clearly to both specialist and non-technical stakeholders; confident in liaising with external partners and regulatory bodies.
• Interpersonal Skills: Comfortable managing supplier relationships and engaging with senior stakeholders; collaborative yet capable of asserting informed decisions when required.
• Technical Skills: Sound operational understanding of messaging platforms, routing logic, and API-based services; familiarity with information security documentation and structured compliance processes.
• Organisation: Methodical and detail-oriented, with strong documentation and process management abilities; capable of balancing multiple priorities effectively.
• Self-Motivated: Demonstrates strong ownership, integrity, and discretion; capable of working independently while driving initiatives forward.
• Problem-Solving: Analytical thinker with the ability to diagnose operational inefficiencies, assess commercial risks, and propose structured, forward-looking solutions.
