Established in 1980, Paul Tonna son of Santu Glass Company Ltd. is today Malta’s leading Glass Company. The company owes its origins to Santu Tonna, one of the very first importers and suppliers of ironmongery goods in the Maltese Islands. Following in the steps of his father, he opened an ironmongery store right in the heart of the Rabat and as the demand for glass increased, he was one of the pioneer ironmongeries to supply glass in Malta. Mario Tonna, was engaged in his father’s activity, helping his father in the shop as well as transporting the materials they imported to other shops around Malta. Due to his profound interest in glass and glass works, Mario Tonna decided to set up his own business. Given the very low wages and difficulties one encounters when opening a new business, the father granted his son a sum of money which allowed Mario Tonna to buy his first ever glass cutting machine. Since then a new factory was opened in Mriehel giving the company over 4 times the space it had in its previous premises, coupled with the latest technology and innovative machinery in the glass industry. Today Paul Tonna son of Santu Ltd., offers a wide range of services, ranging from glass furniture, such as stained glass, polished glass and beveling, to architectural and constructional glass such as, insulating glass and value added glass. The company is renowned for having worked in the world’s most beautiful chain of hotels ranging from Hilton, Radisson SAS, and Intercontinental, all beautifully embellished 5 star Hotels and all finished with a classical touch of elegance.
