Junior Sous Chef

Meliteh Recruiting is currently seeking a talented and passionate Junior Sous Chef to join the dynamic team of our esteemed client in Malta.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring smooth food preparation and maintaining high-quality standards

• Help supervise kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and ensuring the team meets performance expectations

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in line with established recipes, guaranteeing consistency and top quality in every meal served

• Oversee food production during service, ensuring timely preparation, presentation, and delivery of dishes according to set standards

• Ensure cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils, maintaining them in good working order throughout shifts

• Assist in monitoring inventory levels, and placing orders as needed to ensure the kitchen is stocked with all necessary ingredients and supplies

• Collaborate in menu planning and development, contributing new dish ideas and assisting with recipe testing

• Ensure adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations, proper food handling, and storage practices, as well as strict compliance with site allergen procedures

• Address any concerns related to food quality or kitchen operations, escalating issues to the Head Chef as necessary

• Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service flow, focusing on the timing and presentation of dishes

• Assist the Head Chef in monitoring kitchen costs, helping to manage budgets, and optimizing resource use

• Take charge of kitchen operations during the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly and staff are effectively managed

• Complete mandatory online training within the first two weeks of employment to ensure alignment with company standards

Educational and skill requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within a high-energy kitchen environment

• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain quality and consistency in a fast-paced setting

• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure

• Flexibility to work during weekends and public holidays

• Must possess a valid Skills Pass (www.skillspass.org.mt)

• Legal right to live and work in the EU
