Senior Chef

We’re hiring a hands-on Senior Chef to help run our growing bakery, café, and catering kitchen at Il-Kċejna. Attard.

This is a working kitchen role for someone who enjoys both cooking and leading a small team. We’re looking for someone organised, reliable, calm under pressure, and confident running day-to-day kitchen operations while actively working in production alongside the team. If you're a head chef who loves order and efficiency, this role is for you. Brownie points if you love a good brownie!

Our kitchen focuses on comfort food catering, baked goods, corporate lunches, pies, salads, sandwiches, and café production.

What you'll be doing

• Daily cooking, prep, and food production

• Leading and organising the kitchen team during service and prep

• Managing catering preparation and timing

• Maintaining food quality and consistency

• Helping improve kitchen systems and workflow

• Stock control, ordering, and reducing waste

• Ensuring cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen

Who are you?

• Has experience in catering and volume production kitchens

• Is confident leading a small team while remaining hands-on

• Works cleanly, efficiently, and calmly under pressure

• Understands food cost control and kitchen organisation

• Enjoys comfort food, baking, and large-batch production

• Takes ownership and responsibility naturally

• Experience and a good attitude is more important that education
  
  

This role is not

• Fine dining

• Highly formal restaurant service

• A purely administrative chef position

This is a practical, fast-moving kitchen where teamwork, consistency, and organisation matter most.
