Shop Manager

Sottozero is looking for a full time Shop Manager to run one of our seven gelato locations in Malta.

Role: Shop Manager

Location: One of our seven locations, agreed at interview

Contract: Full time, indefinite

Hours: 40 hours a week on shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays

Reports to: General Manager

About us

Sottozero is an Italian influenced Maltese gelato brand with seven locations across Malta, making artisanal gelato since 2006.

The role

You lead the overall operations of your outlet to ensure profitability: rotas, daily targets and staff supervision.

• Lead and supervise the shop team, and be their first point of contact day to day.
• Plan the weekly rota and breaks in our scheduling app, rotating staff only into stations they are trained for.
• Hit the shop's daily sales targets, including Bolt and Wolt orders, while keeping labour cost in check.
• Run cash handling: witness end of shift cash ups, approve larger refunds and reconcile petty cash each month.
• Keep HACCP and food hygiene standards on every shift, including temperature logs, and act on any issue raised.
• Manage absences, coaching and early performance conversations, with HR's support.

You bring:

• At least 2 years managing a shop, café or restaurant.
• A hands-on leader who stays calm when the queue is out the door.
• Comfort with targets, rosters, and stock counts.
• Fluent English. Maltese or Italian is a plus.
