Sous Chef
Meliteh Recruiting is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our client’s team on a full-time basis in Malta.
The Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in overseeing the kitchen operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality dishes, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
This role requires a creative individual with a deep understanding of various cooking methods, kitchen preparation, and authentic ingredients.
• Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and presentation
• Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to recipes, portion control, and cooking techniques
• Ensure consistent quality and presentation of dishes served in the restaurant
• Monitor and maintain inventory levels, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing waste
• Oversee food safety and hygiene standards, including maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment
• Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new recipes and innovate menu offerings
• Handle customer feedback and resolve any issues related to food quality or service
• Work in compliance with hotel grooming and hygiene standards
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Chef
• At least 5 years of work experience
• Experience working in a restaurant kitchen environment
• Knowledge of basic kitchen preparation and various dishes and cooking methods
• Sound knowledge of authentic ingredients and substitute ingredients
• Holder of a food handler license • Verbal and written communication skills in English
• Eye for detail and a passion for food and innovation
• Willing to work on a shift basis in a busy kitchen environment
