Sushi Chef
Lifestyle Group, is a sister company of db Group in Malta. It boasts some of the leading restaurants on the island offering various cuisines, including Aki, Amami, Amami Food Bar, Blu Beach, Loa, Nine Lives, Manta, Tora, and Westreme. Verani, located in the Malta International Airport is also part of the Group.
We are currently looking for a Sushi Chef to Join our team with Lifestyle Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Take an active role in the daily operations of the sushi section, ensuring timely preparation and high-quality sushi dishes.
- Mentor junior sushi chefs and kitchen staff, ensuring they follow correct techniques, maintain consistency, and adhere to the required specifications.
- Prepare and craft a variety of sushi dishes, following established recipes and presentation standards.
- Help manage the sushi section inventory, including ordering and restocking ingredients, ensuring proper handling and storage for maximum freshness.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, including knives, cutting boards, and equipment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Strict adherence to the Food Hygiene standards laid out in training.
- Committing the upmost attention & important to Site Allergen Procedure
- Collaborate with other kitchen sections and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth, timely service and accommodate special guest requests.
- Monitor food costs and portion control within the sushi section, minimizing waste and helping achieve budgetary targets.
- Conduct regular quality checks on the preparation and presentation of sushi, ensuring all dishes meet the required standards before being served.
- Oversee shift operations within the sushi section, managing workflow and coordinating tasks during busy service periods.
- Commit to completing online training within 2 weeks of the start date.
Job Requirements
- Experience working in a kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of basic kitchen preparation and various dishes and cooking methods.
- Sound knowledge of authentic ingredients and substitute ingredients.
- Holder of a food handler license.
- Verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Eye for detail and a passion for food and innovation.
- Willing to work on a shift basis in a busy kitchen environment.
