About

Underwriter Life Operations

The position is responsible to assess applications for insurance policies in line with the
company’s standards. The job holder ensures high-quality outputs both in terms of volume
and timeliness. The Life Underwriter contributes towards the smooth functioning of the Life
Operations by participating in other operational activities within the department.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Assessing and processing life insurance applications whilst providing excellent
customer service to all stakeholders;
Interacting with the intermediaries and other stakeholders on underwriting matters;
Delivering an excellent customer experience at all times both to internal and external
customers;
Assisting the Assistant Manager and/or Operations Manager in the running of the
Underwriting team;
Preparing reports and statements;
Reviewing all documentation, identifying missing documents and inputting
applications;
Handling of Group Life both new and renewals;
Handling clients’ and brokers’ queries;
Updating and maintaining databases; and
Other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function, which may be
assigned from time to time.

Educational and skill requirements

Minimum 3 years’ experience as an underwriter in Life
Preferably in possession of a qualification in insurance studies or studying towards
attainment of such qualification
Great team player with a strong sense of initiative
Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Passionate about customer service and operational excellence
