Chef
ESSE LTD on behalf of Palazzo Castagna is seeking to recruit a full-time Chef for 6 months to join their Boutique Hotel located in Hal Ghaxaq.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Manage the food preparation process;
- Create menus and ensure the variety and quality of the servings;
- Be creative with last minute requests for patrons;
- Ensure the cleanliness and presentation of dishes is optimum;
- Order and ensure the kitchen equipment is maintained well;
- Arrange for repairs when necessary;
- Problem resolver;
- Manage the kitchen brigade;
- Ensure staff retention and growth;
- Ensure staff cleanliness and presentation;
- Ensure safety;
- Man according to the business exigencies;
- Control payroll and attendance;
- Comply with HACCAP;
- Order food, control the best prices on the market;
- Monitor food costs and report on a monthly basis to the Hotel Manager;
- Conduct daily briefings and debriefings with kitchen and floor staff;
- Engage in any other task commensurate with the role.
Educational and skill requirements
- Previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment, preferably as a Chef or in a similar role;
- Knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, and cooking methods;
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils;
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment;
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations;
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
