IT Infrastructure & Security Specialist

We are looking for a proactive and technically skilled IT Infrastructure & Security Specialist to join our growing IT team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional who is passionate about systems administration, cybersecurity, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and thrives in a project-driven environment.

Reporting directly to the CTO, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our core IT infrastructure, leading security initiatives, and delivering infrastructure and cybersecurity projects from conception through to completion. You will also serve as a technical escalation point for complex issues and provide mentorship to other members of the IT team.

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Administer, maintain, and optimise our IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, firewalls, and cloud services.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability to ensure high levels of reliability and uptime.
  • Implement infrastructure hardening standards, security controls, and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, system updates, and patch management across critical systems.
  • Manage and improve security controls covering endpoint protection, identity and access management, email security, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
  • Monitor security events and coordinate the investigation and remediation of incidents.
  • Lead and deliver infrastructure and cybersecurity projects while ensuring appropriate documentation and change management processes are followed.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to design and implement technical solutions that support business objectives.
  • Provide technical support for complex infrastructure-related issues.
  • Develop technical documentation, standards, runbooks, and automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Educational and skill requirements

You should have strong experience with several of the following technologies:

  • Windows Server and/or Linux administration.
  • Active Directory, Azure AD, and identity management solutions.
  • Microsoft 365 and cloud productivity platforms.
  • Virtualisation technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or Proxmox.
  • Network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, and VPNs.
  • Backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring solutions.
  • Networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and VPN technologies.
  • Security concepts including least privilege, defence in depth, and Zero Trust principles.

Experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure roles such as Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or IT Administrator.
  • Practical experience implementing and managing security controls within production environments.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering infrastructure-related projects from planning through implementation
