Manager within the Enforcement Section

The Role

The FIAU is currently in the process of enhancing its Enforcement Section through the recruitment of a Managerial role.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a team within the Enforcement Section;
  • ​Supervising and reviewing enforcement measures, actions and other work carried out by the team being managed;
  • Supervising the implementation of Directives issued to subject persons;
  • To coordinate available resources and officials in a way to maximize the team’s efficiency;
  • To ensure that officials in the team are adequately trained for the purposes of carrying out their duties;
  • To provide officials with the team enough guidance, support, leadership, and direction necessary to ensure that they are able to reach their targets;
  • To monitor, follow up and review the work of officials within the team to identify areas which need improvement, and to ensure that the quality of the officials’ work is satisfactory;
  • To evaluate, review and assess the team’s operations, and report on such matters when asked to do so;
  • Participating in Compliance Monitoring Committees as necessary;
  • To prepare and/or help in preparing court files as needed;
  • To attend FIAU court sittings as witness, or as required;
  • To keep the Head of Section and other Superiors up to date with plans, actions and work done by the team being managed;
  • To plan the operations and goals of the team in a way that these meet the Section’s priorities, targets and deliverables;
  • Carry out timely review and maintenance of the Enforcement Section’s Policies, Procedures and Measures as necessary;
  • Keep the Enforcement database up to date as necessary;
  • Provision of AML training and public awareness;
  • Liaison with local and/or foreign supervisory authorities in relation to enforcement measures taken by the FIAU Compliance Monitoring Committee as necessary;
  • To carry out performance appraisals and one-to-one meetings as may be required from time to time with team members;
  • The provision of advice to the Senior Manager, Head of Section, Director, the Board of Governors and other sections of the FIAU;
  • ​When required, representing the FIAU in international fora;
  • Fulfil any other duties delegated by the Director, Deputy Director and Head of Section.

Requirements

  • Candidates are required to hold a University Degree or an equivalent qualification at MQF Level 6 in law, banking and finance, financial services, insurance, accounting, auditing, statistics, or economics;
  • Applicants should possess a minimum of six years' relevant experience, with at least two years in a senior-level role;
  • Applicants should be proficient in the laws that govern the prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism in Malta and relevant international standards and EU legislation in the area. Relevant work experience is considered to be an asset;
  • Sound knowledge of the relevant EU Directives and related domestic legislation that govern financial, gaming and ancillary services, and familiarity with the operations of the financial services, gaming and other regulated sectors will be considered as an asset;
  • Excellent writing and verbal communications skills in both Maltese & English.
