Policy Executives

The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry is looking for dynamic individuals for the roles of ‘POLICY EXECUTIVE – SUSTAINABILITY’ and ‘POLICY EXECUTIVE – ECONOMIC & REGULATORY AFFAIRS’ on a full-time basis (i) to support, guide and lead The Malta Chamber’s Economic Groups, Business Sections and Thematic Committees, and (ii) to push effectively for the take up of The Malta Chamber’s recommendations and policy documents.

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Supporting Economic Groups, Business Sections, and Thematic Committees as assigned in terms of research, action and follow-ups on policy development and stakeholder outreach
  • Keeping up-to-date with current local, European and international developments as well as horizon scanning and planning for future developments in the policy field
  • Responding to public consultation calls
  • Preparing well-researched and well-articulated policy briefings, papers, reports and positions
  • Preparing policy content for various audiences including speaking notes, press releases, articles for newspapers and The Malta Chamber’s publications
  • Assisting the PR & Communications team on policy content for policy seminars, information sessions, roundtable discussions, conferences and other stakeholder events as required to maintain and grow The Malta Chamber’s profile and increase visibility across all media particularly in message honing
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with policy makers
  • Developing strong working relationships with relevant peer organisations and stakeholders
  • Representation of The Malta Chamber at local and European fora as directed by Management
  • Working with other colleagues across the organisation as necessary
Educational and skill requirements
  • Post graduate degrees preferably in policy, environmental sustainability, economy, regulatory affairs,  or legal affairs
  • A mix of public and private sector experience
  • Good communication, public speaking, presentation and writing skills
  • A good understanding of and interest in national, European and international affairs which have a bearing on The Malta Chamber’s policy direction, particularly business growth and competitiveness, and willingness to develop deep knowledge of policy matters
  • Self-starting and able to identify and prioritise tasks as well as take ownership, responsibility and work with a team
  • Able to network and develop relationships
  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while producing high-quality work
  • Excellent command of written and spoken Maltese and English
