About the Function
The Programme Management & Quality Assurance (PMQA) Unit serves as the Authority’s centralised support structure for all change and delivery initiatives. It is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving MFSA’s project management standards, ensuring consistency, transparency, and alignment across all organisational change activities. PMQA is structured around three core pillars: programme management, change management, and quality assurance. Together, these pillars provide a unified framework that supports effective planning, execution, and oversight of initiatives across the Authority.
About the Role
The Quality Assurance Analyst will be responsible for supporting the preparation, execution, and documentation of testing activities to ensure the quality and reliability of business applications and technology solutions. The role works closely with business users, project teams, internal developers, suppliers, and senior QA colleagues to support testing activities, assist in defect management processes, and contribute to the development of automated testing capabilities.
Main responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the preparation, review, and maintenance of test scenarios, test scripts, and test cases based on business requirements and solution designs;
- Executing test cases and recording test results in accordance with established testing standards and procedures;
- Supporting business users during different Testing Activities such as Regression and/or UAT;
- Assisting users in documenting testing outcomes and gathering supporting evidence;
- Logging, categorising, and tracking defects identified during testing activities;
- Assisting in validating reported defects and ensuring sufficient information is captured for investigation and resolution;
- Liaising with business users, suppliers, and project teams regarding testing activities and defect resolution;
- Supporting defect retesting and regression testing following the implementation of fixes;
- Assisting in maintaining traceability between requirements, test cases, and defects;
- Contributing to the preparation of testing documentation, reports, and metrics;
- Assisting in identifying opportunities for test automation;
- Supporting the development, maintenance, and execution of automated test scripts under the guidance of senior team members;
- Maintaining testing records and ensuring documentation is kept up to date;
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of testing processes and quality assurance practices;
- Undertaking any other duties as assigned by the Head and/or as may be required by the MFSA from time to time based on the exigencies of the Authority.
About You
We are looking for candidates with a solid academic background in Business, Quality Assurance, IT and/or Change Management. The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.
Along with the aforementioned academic qualification, you should also possess a minimum of three (3) years working in the assurance field, business transformation environment, or in an area related to the role.
If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience in a related environment, we would still be interested in speaking to you.
Skills and Competencies:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Basic understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
- Knowledge of software testing concepts, methodologies, and best practices.
- Experience or exposure to writing and executing test cases.
- Understanding of defect management processes.
- Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools.
- Awareness of test automation concepts and practices.
- Basic understanding of reporting and documentation requirements within testing activities.
- Willingness to learn new technologies, testing methodologies, and automation capabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Basic knowledge of scripting, automation tools, or low-code/no-code testing platforms would be considered an asset.
