Senior Officer - Strategy

Are you passionate about strategy, policy and organisational development? Join the FIAU’s Strategy, Policy and Quality Assurance Section and contribute to key initiatives that drive organisational excellence, support strategic decision-making, and strengthen Malta’s AML/CFT framework on both a national and international level.

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development, coordination and implementation of strategic initiatives that support the FIAU’s institutional priorities and long-term objectives.
  • Support the prioritisation of strategic initiatives, ensuring that resources and efforts are directed towards matters of organisational importance and measurable impact.
  • Coordinate and administer strategic projects and workstreams, including the monitoring of the Strategic Plan’s implementation, the facilitation of stakeholder consultation, the identification and escalation of emerging issues, and the follow-through of action plans from initiation to successful completion.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders through meetings, structured documentation, progress updates, and periodic reporting on the status of strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on the delivery, outcomes and effectiveness of strategic initiatives through the use of appropriate performance indicators and control frameworks.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the AML/CFT legislative, institutional and regulatory framework at local, EU and international level, and assess their relevance to the FIAU’s strategic priorities and ongoing initiatives.
  • Provide support in relation to evaluations, assessments, reviews, studies or information requests undertaken by the EU, Egmont Group, MONEYVAL, FATF and other relevant international organisations concerning, or of interest to, the FIAU or Malta.
  • Participate in conferences, seminars, workshops and stakeholder events organised by the FIAU or by relevant public, representative and private sector bodies on matters of AML/CFT relevance.
  • Participate in internal committees, working groups and cross-functional initiatives, contributing to the effective coordination of strategic matters across the FIAU.
  • Provide assistance to the Strategy, Policy and Quality Assurance Section on any other matters relevant to the role and the objectives of the Section.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the FIAU’s management from time to time
Educational and skill requirements
  • An MQF level 6 qualification together with 4 years’ work experience in a similar role; OR an MQF level 5 qualification together with 5 years’ work experience in a similar role.
  • Highly organised, having strong reasoning and analytical skills as well as a strong ability to analyse, challenge and add value.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, including good presentation and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and lead assigned tasks with minimum or no supervision.
  • Be able to show a track record of competence, efficiency, and diligence in a relevant post.
