Sous Chef

Meliteh Recruiting is seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our client’s team in a food production environment on a full-time basis in Malta.

This role requires a chef who thrives in a production setting, supporting the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, preparing high-quality food products, and upholding top standards of food safety and hygiene.

We are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, culinary expertise, and a passion for quality and efficiency.

Role Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant culinary experience
• Previous experience in food production, catering, or large-scale kitchen environments
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and large-batch production processes
• Familiarity with authentic ingredients, alternative ingredients, and portion control
• Valid food handler license
• Proficiency in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of the Maltese language is preferred
• Knowledge of traditional Maltese cuisine is considered an asset
• Detail-oriented, organized, and driven to maintain high standards of food quality.
  
  

Main Duties:

• Assist the Head Chef in managing production operations, including planning, preparation, and portioning
• Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to recipes, production methods, and safety protocols
• Maintain consistency in food quality and presentation, with a focus on production standards and efficiency
• Monitor inventory levels, optimize resource use, and minimize waste
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards, keeping a clean and organized kitchen
• Collaborate with the culinary team on new product development and process improvements
• Oversee quality control processes, handling feedback and issues related to food production standards
• Perform additional tasks as directed by the Head Chef
