Sous Chef
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join our team. In this role, you
will support the Head Chef in the daily operation of our kitchen while preparing and
presenting high-quality Maltese dishes. This position also includes delivering tailored
cooking classes and hands-on culinary experiences, so strong communication skills
and a friendly personality are essential.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present traditional Maltese dishes to high standards.
- Assist the Head Chef with kitchen management and staff supervision.
- Maintain consistency, quality control, and hygiene standards at all times.
- Manage stock levels, place orders, and support cost control.
- Deliver engaging and interactive cooking classes/workshops to guests.
- Provide a warm, enjoyable guest experience during classes and events.
- Support menu development, seasonal specials, and culinary events.
Educational and skill requirements
- Experience in a professional kitchen (Mediterranean/Maltese cuisine preferred).
- Strong cooking, organisational, and multitasking abilities.
- Confident communicator, comfortable leading guest-facing cooking classes.
- Food Handling Licence
- Team-oriented, positive attitude, and strong attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and special events.
- Passion for Maltese culinary heritage and local ingredients.
- Experience teaching, presenting, or leading culinary demonstrations.
- Creativity and interest in menu innovation.
