Payments - QA Tech Lead

A taster of what you will be involved with

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of our Payments platform to identify weaknesses, enforce security best practices, and enhance testing effectiveness while maintaining the highest quality standards.
• Formulate a Payments-focused Test Strategy that ensures compliance, security, and resilience, alongside improving overall testing efforts.
• Provide guidance to teams on implementing different types and levels of tests, particularly around security testing, data validation, and high-availability infrastructure.
• Play a pivotal role in developing Proof of Concepts (POCs) for security testing tools and frameworks, ensuring the Payments platform remains resilient to threats.
• Oversee the quality of test automation code created by teams, ensuring the delivery of secure and high-performance test suites.
• Advocate for a shift-left mentality, emphasizing early risk detection, security, and performance testing from the requirement phase onward.
• Drive towards a Continuous Delivery approach, leveraging automation for fast, frequent, and high-quality releases while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Expand the scope of quality assurance to non-functional aspects, including security, performance, and disaster recovery testing.
• Provide visibility into quality efforts through meaningful metrics, including security testing coverage and uptime reliability.
• Lead investigations and root cause analyses for incidents, particularly security breaches, payment failures, and performance bottlenecks.
• Work closely with Compliance, Security, and DevOps teams to ensure industry standards, such as PCI DSS, are met.
• Act as a subject matter expert on Payments testing, supporting QA Engineers in implementing best practices for secure and scalable payments testing.

What We Are Looking For

• Proven experience in collaborating with QA Engineers and Software Engineers to improve security, reliability, and automation in a Payments or financial domain.
• Hands-on experience in security testing methodologies, including API security, penetration testing, and compliance testing.
• Proficiency with test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium for end-to-end and UI testing.
• Strong experience in using mocking frameworks like Moq or Mockito.
• Hands-on experience with testing using tools like RestAssured or Pact to validate integrations and ensure robustness.
• Strong understanding of data integrity validation, transactional consistency, and risk-based testing.
• Experience in implementing performance testing strategies for payment gateways and high-traffic applications using tools like K6 or JMeter.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, and TeamCity to ensure secure deployments.
• Expertise in testing microservice-based architectures, ensuring reliability in distributed systems.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with proficiency in English.
• Strong ability to foster collaboration and drive a culture of security awareness within development teams.

Bonus Points For

• Experience in Payments, FinTech, or financial services testing, particularly in PCI DSS-regulated environments.
• Understanding of cloud-based technologies like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Hands-on experience with tools like RabbitMQ, Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in monitoring and observability tools to track system health and transaction integrity.
• Prior experience in risk-based testing methodologies for financial transactions.
• Previous experience working in a multicultural geo-distributed team.
• Professional Scrum Master™ I (PSM I) certification is a plus.
