The National Statistics Office (NSO) are seeking a talented individual to join a dynamic team as an Administration Officer 5 with specialisation in Time & Attendance and Payroll processing.
Besides an excellent level of interpersonal and communication skills, the successful candidate is expected to be creative, have the ability to perform a wide range of general administrative functions, support other units within the Office, and deal with external stakeholders as needed.
In addition, the prospective candidate will be required to:
- Have both strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language and any other Official European Language; preferably Maltese; and
- Have advanced proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office 365 tools such as Microsoft Excel and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) such as Dakar Payroll software.

The key responsibilities of an Administration Officer 5 with specialisation in Time & Attendance and Payroll processing are to:
- Monitor and track employee attendance, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures;
- Manage and maintain the working schedules of both Full-time and reduced NSO employees to accurately record working hours, including clocking in/out, breaks, and extant absences;
- Update and Act as a main point of reference on inquiries from employees regarding payroll matters;
- Collect and verify timekeeping information for all NSO full-time and casual employees, and calculate wages, overtime, and deductions accurately;
- Liaise with external parties and process payroll transactions in a timely manner, together with preparing and distributing payslips and direct credits;
- Prepare payroll reports for management and accounting purposes
By the closing time and date of this call for applications, applicants must be in possession of:
- A recognised Certificate at MQF Level 5 in a subject area related to Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, together with seven (7) years, or equivalent, of relevant experience;
OR
- A recognised Certificate at MQF Level 6 or higher qualification in a subject area related to Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Prospective applicants should note the requirement to:
- Understand and interpret tax, social security, and contributory regulations;
- Have good understanding of all National employment, and Public Sector regulations and guidelines listed in the Public Service Management Code (PSMC);
- Be proficient with the use of an HRIS, specifically its Time & Attendance and Payroll modules.
