Role Overview
The Analyst will play a pivotal role in reviewing and assessing the effectiveness of the Business’s data management controls, ensuring that risk mitigation measures are robust and compliant with industry standards. The role offers an opportunity to deepen expertise in regulatory frameworks, data validation, and reporting practices, contributing to the organisation’s risk oversight and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis: Gather, interpret, and analyse data to support validation exercises and ensure accuracy in reporting.
- Validation Checks: Conduct detailed validation procedures on assigned areas, including reviewing exception reports and confirming adherence to regulatory standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Evaluate processes and procedures across business units to verify alignment with industry principles and internal validation requirements.
- Reporting: Prepare comprehensive validation reports that summarise insights, highlight risks, and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitoring and Tracking: Update validation results in central databases and maintain effective tracking systems for ongoing review.
- Collaboration: Work closely with various teams to address validation findings and develop agreed-upon remediation plans.
- Knowledge Sharing: Provide guidance and informal training to new team members, promoting best practices and regulatory awareness.
- Standards Promotion: Advocate for sound data management and validation practices across the Business.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: MQF Level 5 Certificate in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Data Engineering, or a related field; or an MQF Level 6 Bachelor’s Degree in the same disciplines.
- Experience: Minimum of 2–4 years in Data Science, Data Analysis, or similar roles within financial services or a related sector.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required; Maltese communication skills are an asset.
- Communication Skills: Ability to convey complex information clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong collaborative skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across teams.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI is advantageous.
- Organisation: Strong planning and time management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Self-Motivated: Demonstrates initiative, reliability, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in a dynamic regulatory environment.
- Problem-Solving: Capacity to identify issues, analyse data, and recommend practical solutions.
