Fleet Superintendent

MFF Limited operates a fleet of approximately 35 vessels (10–50m LOA) across the Mediterranean, supporting Atlantic bluefin tuna capture and aquaculture operations. We are looking for an experienced engineer to take clear ownership of our fleet's mechanical performance — someone who gets to the root cause, directs the right fix, and keeps our vessels running.

What You Will Do

The Fleet Superintendent is responsible for the technical management, safety, and seaworthiness of the company's vessel fleet ensuring vessels are properly maintained, compliant, and available to support day-to-day farming operations at sea. Working alongside the Fleet Technical Manager and the Mechanical Engineer, Your focus is on the physical condition and reliability of the vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee scheduled maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, and class/flag-state surveys for all vessels in the fleet.
  • Ensure vessels meet safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate vessel deployment for feeding, net changes, treatments, harvesting, and fish transfers, working closely with other managers.
  • Manage vessel crewing and vessel specific training needs.
  • Manage the fleet maintenance records, assisting in the procurement of parts, equipment, and services as needed.
  • Act as the main link between shore management and vessel crews on technical and operational matters.

What we are looking for:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years industry related experience as well as a working knowledge of marine engineering, or working with management and supervision.
  • Experience with small-to-medium fishing or commercial vessel fleets preferred.
  • Fishing or aquaculture industry backgrounds would be considered advantageous.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Detail oriented, sets high workmanship standards and strives to achieve results.
  • Communicates clearly with crew, suppliers, and senior management.
  • Comfortable travelling across Malta and the Mediterranean region.
  • English essential; Maltese or Italian an advantage.
  • CMMS experience would be beneficial, a valid driving licence required.

What we offer:

  • A technically varied fleet across two distinct vessel types.
  • Central role in a growing Mediterranean aquaculture business.
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Regional reach through the EBCON Group network.
