Role Overview
Heroix is collaborating with our Client in the food manufacturing sector to recruit a Production Operator. The selected candidate will support day-to-day manufacturing activities within an assigned production area, ensuring that work is completed efficiently and in accordance with the Company’s food quality, hygiene and workplace safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Equipment: Use basic machinery and production tools correctly, following approved operational instructions and established processes.
- Hygiene and Sanitation: Keep workstations, equipment and surrounding production areas hygienic to protect product integrity and minimise contamination risks.
- Quality Monitoring: Complete routine checks at the required stages and promptly notify the responsible supervisor of products or processes that fall outside the expected specifications.
- Material Handling: Move and manage ingredients, packaging and completed goods safely, using the appropriate handling equipment where necessary.
- Production Records: Gather and record relevant process information accurately to support traceability and operational reporting.
- Maintenance Coordination: Identify equipment concerns and submit requests for technical assistance or repair when required.
- Workplace Organisation: Apply recognised housekeeping practices to maintain an orderly, efficient and well-managed production area.
- Health and Safety: Follow all workplace safety measures and immediately raise concerns regarding unsafe equipment, conditions or working methods.
- Training Participation: Take an active role in learning activities and assist with sharing practical knowledge when requested.
- Team Coordination: Communicate clearly with colleagues from different production areas and departments to support the smooth flow of work and information.
- Additional Duties: Carry out other reasonable production-related assignments delegated by supervisors or management.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
- Education: An MQF Level 3 qualification would be advantageous, although relevant practical experience may also be considered.
- Experience: Previous employment in production, manufacturing, food processing or a commercial food preparation setting would be beneficial.
- Language Skills: A good spoken command of English is required to understand instructions and communicate effectively. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
- Communication Skills: Able to listen carefully, understand detailed directions and report operational or quality-related matters clearly.
- Interpersonal Skills: A cooperative team member who can maintain positive working relationships across different functions and departments.
- Technical Skills: Comfortable using straightforward production equipment, handling materials and completing basic operational records.
- Organisation: Capable of maintaining a tidy work area and completing assigned activities in a systematic and timely manner.
- Self-Motivated: Dependable, willing to learn and prepared to take responsibility for completing daily duties to the required standard.
- Methodical Approach: Able to perform repeated activities efficiently while remaining attentive to accuracy, consistency and product quality.
- Problem-Solving: Alert to irregularities and confident in escalating equipment, safety or production concerns to the appropriate person.
- Safety Awareness: Committed to observing hygiene, food safety and occupational health requirements throughout every shift.
- Physical Capability: Able to undertake practical production duties that may involve standing, repeated movements and the handling of materials.
