Senior Analyst (JST)
Banking Supervision carries out authorisation and on-site and ongoing supervision of licensed banks. The Banking Supervision team comprises professionals with a financial services academic background, but also legal and IT professionals to support policy and supervisory work.
As Senior Analyst you will be assigned to carry out work which will include the following duties:
- Participating in the development and execution of supervisory strategies for less significant credit institutions &/or Joint Supervision, including recommending supervisory interventions to mitigate risks;
- Coordinating and planning of the supervision of a group of less significant credit institutions and/or Joint Supervision Team in line with the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) Supervisory Manual;
- Coordinating and executing the Risk Assessment System and the Supervisory Review and Evaluation Programme (SREP);
- Liaising with the ECB in relation to the supervision of less significant credit institutions and or Joint Supervision Team;
- Managing a team, providing guidance, leadership and mentoring;
- Deputising for senior managers when required;
- Representing the MFSA in industry forums or to external stakeholders;
- Support, assist and work on authorisation processes as required.
You will also be expected to undertake any other duties that may arise depending on the exigencies of Banking Supervision and the Authority.
We are looking for candidates with solid academic background in banking, economics, accounting or in another area which may be considered as relevant to this post.
The role calls for an academic qualification in a relevant field of study at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or better, duly certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) or a widely recognised professional qualification at a comparable level.
You will also possess a minimum of 5 years work experience in the area related to the role. Candidates with longer working experience relevant to the role will be preferred.
If you do not have the necessary academic or professional qualifications but you have at least ten (10) years of relevant experience, we would still be interested in speaking with you.
Candidates should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: business model analysis, internal governance, operational risk, market risk, credit risk, interest rate risk in the banking book, liquidity risk and stress testing.
