Role Overview
The Senior Regulatory Data Analyst will play a key role within the Data Intelligence Hub, supporting the Chief Strategy, Transformation & Data Officer. The role focuses on executing, reviewing, and improving data aggregation and reporting processes related to supervisory and resolution reporting frameworks. The successful candidate will ensure regulatory compliance, maintain high data quality standards, and contribute to process enhancements while engaging with internal teams, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Reporting: Ensure the accurate preparation, review, and timely submission of supervisory, resolution, and statistical reports in line with applicable standards and deadlines.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of evolving regulatory requirements, implement relevant changes to reporting processes, and assist management in aligning systems and data flows with updated standards.
- Data Quality & Analysis: Conduct in-depth data analysis to detect anomalies or risks, implement control measures, and support quality assurance initiatives with data-driven insights to strengthen strategic decision-making.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, addressing regulatory queries promptly, supporting audit processes, and ensuring effective communication across departments.
- Disclosure & Reporting Support: Provide essential data and insights for financial statements and EBA Pillar III disclosures, ensuring accuracy and timeliness while supporting ad hoc reporting needs.
- Documentation & Process Management: Maintain up-to-date documentation for reporting frameworks and procedures, ensuring clarity, consistency, and compliance with internal and external standards.
- System & Data Testing: Collaborate with IT and internal teams to draft business requirements, test data accuracy, and validate system changes to ensure smooth implementation of regulatory updates.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: An MQF Level 5 qualification in Banking and Finance, Accountancy, Risk Management or a related field with at least four years’ experience in a financial regulatory environment. Alternatively, an MQF Level 6 Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with a minimum of two years’ experience, or five years of equivalent experience within financial services.
- Experience: Proven background in regulatory reporting, compliance, or risk management within the banking or financial services sector. Experience with prudential regulation (CRR III), recovery and resolution, or financial reporting (COREP, FINREP) is considered advantageous.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex regulatory information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Interpersonal Skills: Collaborative and approachable, capable of building positive working relationships with team members, management, and regulators.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in regulatory reporting tools and business intelligence systems, with knowledge of Business Objects, FIRE AX, Flexcube, WSS, and D365 considered beneficial.
- Organisation: Highly organised, capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Self-Motivated: Proactive and results-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility, persistence, and drive to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical thinker with the ability to identify reporting discrepancies, develop practical solutions, and propose process enhancements.
