Kitchen Porter 

We are seeking a Kitchen Porter to join our back-of-house team. This essential role supports the smooth operation of the kitchen by ensuring it is clean, organized, and well-maintained at all times.

Job Summary

The Kitchen Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including dishwashing, equipment cleaning, and waste management. You will play a key role in ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and meets hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashers or by hand as required.
  • Clean and maintain work surfaces, floors, and other areas of the kitchen to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Dispose of waste and recycling appropriately, ensuring bins are emptied regularly.

Stock and Equipment Support:

  • Assist with unloading and storing kitchen deliveries, ensuring proper storage and rotation of goods.
  • Keep cleaning supplies stocked and inform management when supplies need replenishing.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and stored in the appropriate locations.

Support for the Culinary Team:

  • Assist chefs and kitchen staff by keeping stations clean and organized during service.
  • Help with basic food preparation tasks as directed, such as peeling vegetables or portioning ingredients.
  • Ensure that all safety and sanitation guidelines are followed in the kitchen.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience: Prior experience as a kitchen porter or in a similar role is an advantage but not required.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items as needed.
  • Teamwork: Willingness to work collaboratively with the kitchen team and follow instructions.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensures cleanliness and organization in all aspects of the role.
  • Time Management: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
