Role Overview
In collaboration with Heroix, the financial institution is seeking a Network Engineer to support the ongoing performance, stability, and evolution of its IT connectivity landscape. This role centres on ensuring robust network operations, assisting in infrastructure initiatives, and contributing to the optimisation of enterprise networking solutions within a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Network Infrastructure Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, and upkeep of networking equipment such as routing devices, switching platforms, and wireless technologies to ensure consistent system performance.
• Performance Monitoring and Issue Resolution: Continuously assess network activity, identify irregularities, and resolve connectivity challenges to maintain uninterrupted operations.
• Security Controls Implementation: Support the enforcement of network protection mechanisms, including the management of access rules, firewall configurations, and related safeguards.
• Project and Upgrade Support: Contribute to network expansion initiatives, system improvements, and transition activities while collaborating with internal technology teams.
• Technical Support and Documentation: Deliver advanced technical assistance for complex networking matters, maintain accurate technical records, and contribute to process improvements and technology evaluations.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

• Education: MQF Level 5 qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline; alternatively, an MQF Level 6 Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with relevant experience.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ experience within a structured IT environment, or equivalent combinations of education and practical exposure.
• Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
• Communication Skills: Ability to convey technical information clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Interpersonal Skills: A proactive team player capable of building positive working relationships across departments.
• Technical Skills: Practical knowledge of enterprise networking technologies, monitoring platforms, and security tools, with exposure to scripting or automation initiatives considered advantageous.
• Organisation: Strong ability to manage priorities, coordinate tasks, and maintain detailed technical records.
• Self-Motivated: Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and a willingness to remain current with emerging networking technologies.
• Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with the capability to diagnose issues efficiently and implement effective solutions under pressure.
