QSE Superintendent

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implements and monitors compliance with ISM, ISO standards (9001, 14001), MLC, TMSA, SIRE 2.0 etc.
• Maintains and reviews the Company Management System, ensuring proper document control and regulatory alignment.
• Follows up on reports and deficiencies, including onboard investigations and compliance monitoring for assigned vessels.
• Manages internal and external audit programs, including office and shipboard audits, and coordinates with third-party auditors.
• Supports environmental policy implementation and regional sustainability measures, collaborating with the Technical Function.
• Provides marine support to vessels, including voyage and cargo planning, PSC preparation, and risk guidance for specific ports.
• Coordinates marine inspections, including SIRE, RightShip, Flag State, and PSC, and manages corrective action plans.
• Handles Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) obligations, including auditing, certification, and crew complaint follow-up.
• Prepares reports and manages departmental budgeting, identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring alignment with financial targets.
• Can be assigned as Designated Person Ashore (DPA), ensuring safe vessel operations, investigating incidents, and implementing preventive measures.
• Can be assigned as Company Security Officer (CSO) duties, including threat assessment, security plan oversight, audits, and training.

Job Requirements:

• University degree or similar qualification in Business Management / Shipping or related fields.
• At least 7 years of experience in a Dry Ship Superintendent role or 5 years of experience as a senior officer onboard bulk carriers or containers.
• Experience with MESPAS and DANAOS ERP systems will be considered an advantage.
• Knowledge of the applicable codes, guidelines, and standards.
• Certified Internal Auditor for applicable standards. (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001 ISM, etc.)
• Certified Incident Investigator – Basic Course.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English. 
• Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, communication (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and SharePoint.
