Role Overview
Our Client is seeking a highly driven and analytically strong Finance Support Analyst to work closely with Finance Managers, providing essential support across a wide range of financial, operational, and compliance-related activities. This is a varied and demanding position that extends well beyond traditional support duties, offering exposure to complex financial processes and high-level decision-making.
The role is well-suited to an individual with strong numerical ability, excellent organisational skills, and a keen interest in developing a long-term career within finance. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in areas such as financial analysis, forecasting, audit preparation, cash flow management, and regulatory compliance, while operating in a fast-paced and performance-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Finance Managers: Assist Finance Managers in compiling, reviewing, and analysing financial data to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Audit & Compliance Support: Coordinate audit preparation activities by collecting supporting documentation, preparing reconciliations, and addressing auditor queries in a timely manner.
- Banking & Regulatory Documentation: Complete and maintain banking compliance forms, KYC documentation, and due diligence questionnaires required by financial institutions and external stakeholders.
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Assist in the preparation of cash flow forecasts, liquidity reporting, budgeting, and scenario-based financial modelling.
- Transaction Support: Contribute to the execution, monitoring, and documentation of complex financial transactions across various business areas.
- Reporting & Data Management: Prepare accurate management reports and presentations, ensuring financial records are complete, reliable, and up to date.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Communicate and coordinate with banks, auditors, advisors, and other professional counterparts as required.
- Process Improvement: Support the ongoing enhancement of internal reporting systems, workflows, and financial processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience in finance, accounting, audit, or financial analysis. Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) will be considered an advantage.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. Knowledge of Maltese would be considered beneficial.
- Communication Skills: Strong ability to clearly present financial information and interact confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
- Interpersonal Skills: Comfortable working collaboratively with senior finance professionals and external advisors in a professional environment.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modelling and data analysis techniques. Strong understanding of financial statements, forecasting methods, and cash flow management.
- Organisation: Excellent organisational ability with strong attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Self-Motivated: Highly driven, proactive, and eager to learn, with a strong desire to grow within the finance profession.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data and support practical decision-making.
