Role Overview
Heroix is partnering with a leading organisation in the international education sector to recruit an International Payroll Analyst for its Malta-based operation. This role offers exposure to multi-country payroll processes within a fast-paced, international environment and provides the opportunity to contribute to process improvements while supporting employees across several regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing: Oversee the accurate and timely processing of weekly and monthly payrolls across multiple international locations, ensuring compliance with local regulations and internal standards.
- Payroll Administration: Manage payroll updates including onboarding, offboarding, salary adjustments, statutory payments, bonuses, benefits administration, and timesheet validation.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as a key point of contact for employees, managers, and external service providers to address payroll-related queries and maintain effective working relationships.
- Payroll Accounting: Prepare payroll reconciliations and journals, ensuring correct upload into financial systems and alignment with accounting requirements.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance payroll processes, contribute to system implementations, and support ad hoc projects and cross-functional initiatives, including occasional international travel.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 1–2 years of relevant experience in payroll, HR administration, or accounting, ideally within an international or multi-entity environment. Experience with international payrolls (e.g. Dutch, Nordic, Spanish, French or APAC) would be a strong asset.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. Additional languages such as Italian, French, Spanish, or German are considered advantageous.
- Communication Skills: Clear, professional communicator capable of liaising confidently with international teams, managers, and third-party providers.
- Interpersonal Skills: Collaborative team player with a respectful and service-oriented approach when supporting employees across the business.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel; familiarity with payroll systems and financial platforms is beneficial.
- Organisation: Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment.
- Self-Motivated: Proactive, adaptable, and driven, with the initiative to take ownership of tasks and expand responsibilities.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical and solutions-focused, able to resolve payroll discrepancies and respond effectively to changing requirements.
