Security Manager

We are currently seeking a Security Manager to join our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and well-controlled environment for all hotel guests, employees, visitors, contractors, and hotel assets.

The Security Manager will lead the Security team, oversee daily security operations, manage potential risks, and ensure that all security, emergency, and safety procedures are effectively implemented and maintained.

The position provides leadership and direction to the hotel's security function, ensuring that appropriate security procedures, emergency protocols, loss-prevention measures, and health and safety requirements are consistently implemented.

The Security Manager is expected to work closely with Hotel Management and all operational departments to identify risks, prevent incidents, respond effectively to emergencies, and protect the reputation, property, people, and business interests of the hotel.

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day security operations of the resort, ensuring effective security procedures, policies, standards, and adequate coverage across all guest areas, back-of-house areas, staff areas, parking, entrances, exits, and restricted areas.
  • Conduct regular security inspections and patrols, monitor access control, keys, electronic access systems, and restricted areas, and ensure the proper control of lost and found property.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, motivate, and evaluate Security personnel, maintaining high standards of conduct, performance, appearance, professionalism, and discipline.
  • Prepare and manage security duty rosters according to resort occupancy, operations, events, and security requirements, and conduct regular team briefings and refresher training.
  • Ensure all Security personnel are fully familiar with fire, evacuation, emergency, alarm, and life-safety procedures, including emergency exits and assembly points.
  • Take command of and respond appropriately to security incidents and emergencies, including theft, assault, disorderly behaviour, unauthorized access, suspicious activity, fire, evacuation, medical emergencies, and other threats.
  • Ensure all incidents are promptly documented, investigated, reported to Hotel Management, and, where required, evidence is preserved and appropriate records are maintained.
  • Coordinate with police, fire services, medical personnel, emergency services, and other relevant authorities when required.
  • Maintain, review, and improve emergency response, evacuation, and security procedures, and participate in drills and exercises.
  • Oversee the effective operation and appropriate use of CCTV, access-control systems, alarms, and other security equipment, ensuring regular checks, maintenance, and prompt reporting of defects.
  • Ensure CCTV footage, security records, reports, and system information are maintained securely and confidentially in accordance with applicable requirements and resort policies.
  • Attend management and operational meetings, briefings, and training sessions, and maintain effective communication with Hotel Management and other departments regarding security risks, incidents, staffing, and operational requirements.
Educational and skill requirements
  • Experience in a security supervisory, management, or similar leadership position.
  • A recognised qualification or certification in Security Management or a related field would be considered advantageous.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams within a security operations setting.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Full proficiency in the English language.
  • Well-developed analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong relationship-building abilities, with the capacity to work effectively and collaborate with individuals at all organisational levels.
  • Competent in the use of computer systems and standard office software applications.
