Deli Kitchen Assistant
Diar il-Bniet is a renowned restaurant and agritourism destination in Dingli, Malta, celebrated for its authentic Maltese cuisine and warm hospitality. Our Local Deli is an extension of this vision, offering freshly prepared meals and artisanal products made using locally sourced ingredients from our own estates.
We are currently seeking a Deli Kitchen Assistant to support our deli kitchen operations and contribute to delivering high-quality, fresh food in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
This is a hands-on role suited for an individual who is passionate about food preparation, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of deli items including ftiras, sandwiches, salads, and platters
- Prepare fresh ingredients daily (washing, chopping, slicing, portioning, and basic sauce preparation)
- Support the kitchen team during service to ensure efficient and timely food production
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and preparation areas
- Ensure adherence to food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards
- Assist with stock rotation (FIFO) and basic inventory checks
- Follow instructions from the Deli Chef and Supervisor to maintain consistency and quality
Educational and skill requirements
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role
- Food Handling License
- Passion for food and Maltese gastronomy
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills and ability to work within a team
- Flexible with working hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Must be punctual, reliable, and organised
