Role Overview
The Accountant (Hospitality) will play a pivotal role within the Finance team, overseeing financial operations for designated entities. This position ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and provides strategic insights through financial planning and analysis to support organisational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Operations Management: Monitor and manage daily accounting activities, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and other financial reporting tasks.
- Statutory Reporting: Prepare and submit VAT returns, Eco Contribution returns, and other statutory filings as required.
- Management Accounts: Produce precise monthly management accounts and financial reports to support decision-making.
- Operational Collaboration: Work closely with operational teams to track KPIs and implement cost-control measures.
- Team Mentorship: Guide and oversee junior finance staff to ensure high-quality outputs.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and monthly financial forecasts.
- Credit and Cash Flow Monitoring: Supervise credit control activities and cash flow reporting.
- Audit Assistance: Support the annual audit process and other ad hoc finance-related tasks as needed.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: Relevant degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline, ACCA or equivalent.
- Experience: Proven experience as an Accountant, ideally within the hospitality sector.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required. Knowledge of Maltese is an asset.
- Communication Skills: Strong ability to convey financial information clearly to internal stakeholders.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage junior staff effectively.
- Technical Skills: Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles; experience with Shireburn Financial Management, Opera PMS, and Simphony is advantageous.
- Organisation: Skilled in managing multiple tasks efficiently and meeting tight deadlines.
- Self-Motivated: Proactive and driven to achieve results independently.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a solutions-oriented approach.
