Role Overview
The Head of Finance Operations will be responsible for building and leading the technical and operational framework within the finance function. This role involves driving standardisation, compliance, and continuous improvement while overseeing group-wide transactional services. It requires a strategic leader with the ability to design scalable processes, implement financial systems, and deliver high-quality financial operations that support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership of Finance Framework: Establish and oversee the technical framework within the finance function to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Controls & Reviews: Design and implement robust controls and systematic review processes that meet reporting regulations and governance standards.
- Finance Systems Development: Play a pivotal role in the implementation and enhancement of finance systems aligned with strategic goals.
- Transactional Operations Oversight: Act as the owner of group-wide transactional finance services, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Service Delivery Optimisation: Develop a framework to deliver efficient, high-quality transactional finance services with a focus on cost savings and continuous improvement.
- Performance Monitoring: Set and monitor KPIs and SLAs to measure effectiveness and ensure service excellence.
- Process Resolution: Proactively identify, resolve, and eliminate recurring process issues at the source.
- Professionalisation & Growth: Drive continued professionalisation of the finance function to support the growth and expansion of the business.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: A professional finance qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) is required.
- Experience: Extensive experience in leading Shared Services functions, ideally within a multinational or rapidly expanding organisation.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
- Communication Skills: Ability to convey complex financial information clearly, influence stakeholders, and build strong professional relationships.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong leadership and people management capabilities, with a proven track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Technical Skills: In-depth expertise in transactional finance operations (AP, AR, payroll, etc.) and related systems, with a focus on automation and scalability.
- Organisation: Skilled at designing structured, efficient processes that align with company objectives.
- Self-Motivated: A proactive and driven professional with a commercial mindset and the ability to align financial strategy with business growth.
- Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to identify root causes of issues, implement corrective actions, and improve processes sustainably.
