IT Systems Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Support: Assist with the operation and upkeep of technology environments incorporating cloud services, local systems and combined deployment models.
• Technical Troubleshooting: Investigate faults affecting servers, networks, user access, cloud services and related enterprise systems, applying suitable corrective action.
• System Monitoring: Carry out scheduled inspections and maintenance activities to identify potential concerns, improve stability and minimise service disruption.
• Customer Assistance: Respond to technical requests, explain solutions clearly and help customers use supported systems effectively.
• Technical Records: Prepare accurate documentation covering system configurations, completed implementations, support cases and relevant operating procedures.
• Professional Learning: Take part in technical courses and certification pathways to expand knowledge of current and emerging infrastructure technologies.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

• Education: A diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Communications and Computer Engineering or a comparable discipline would be preferred. Recognised professional IT credentials may also be accepted.
• Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience within systems engineering, IT infrastructure, cloud services or technical support is required.
• Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
• Communication Skills: The ability to explain technical matters clearly, prepare well-structured records and communicate professionally with customers and colleagues.
• Interpersonal Skills: A cooperative and customer-oriented approach, with the ability to contribute effectively as part of a busy technical team.
• Technical Skills: Practical knowledge of technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows Server and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, together with familiarity with enterprise systems and blended cloud environments.
• Professional Certifications: Credentials issued by Microsoft, Oracle, HPE, VMware or another recognised technology provider would be considered beneficial.
• Organisation: The ability to manage several technical requests, maintain accurate documentation and complete scheduled work within agreed timeframes.
• Self-Motivated: A proactive interest in developing technical expertise, supported by the independence to progress assignments with limited supervision.
• Problem-Solving: Strong diagnostic and analytical ability, with a structured approach to identifying the source of technical issues and implementing suitable resolutions.
