

Electrical Systems Technician
Salary Package: €14,000 to €25,000 depending on experience

Role Overview
The Electrical Systems Technician will support the reliable operation of fire detection, security and extra-low-voltage systems installed at commercial premises. The position involves investigating technical issues, completing corrective work, supporting system installations and guiding customers following the successful activation of new equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Fault Investigation and Repairs: Visit customer premises to identify the cause of system malfunctions and carry out the necessary remedial work.
- System Installation and Upkeep: Set up, programme, service and update relevant software, hardware and supporting components when required.
- Site Assessments: Survey proposed projects and system upgrades, identify the materials and equipment required, prepare accurate documentation and produce clear layout drawings showing intended equipment locations.
- Product and System Testing: Assist with the evaluation of newly introduced equipment and technologies before they are made available to customers.
- Commissioning and Customer Guidance: Complete final system checks, explain operating procedures to customers and ensure that all service documentation is correctly completed and acknowledged.
- Technical Records: Maintain precise and comprehensive reports covering site visits, completed work, equipment requirements and customer approvals.
- Additional Support: Undertake other reasonable technical assignments according to operational priorities.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
- Education: An MQF Level 5 Diploma or MQF Level 4 Certificate in an electrical discipline is preferred. An MCAST qualification in a relevant area will also be considered favourably.
- Electrical Authorisation: Possession of an Electrical Licence A would be advantageous.
- Driving Licence: A Maltese driving licence category B is required.
- Experience: Previous exposure to servicing electrical, electronic or ELV equipment is desirable, particularly within fire protection or security environments.
- Language Skills: Strong spoken and written Maltese and English are required for this position.
- Communication Skills: Capable of explaining technical matters clearly to customers and completing written records to a high standard.
- Interpersonal Skills: Courteous and professional, with a constructive attitude when dealing with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Technical Skills: Able to inspect, test, maintain and restore technical equipment, with the confidence to work across both system hardware and associated applications.
- Technical Understanding: Comfortable interpreting electrical drawings, equipment specifications and manufacturer instructions.
- Organisation: Methodical in planning site work, documenting findings and ensuring that every stage of an assignment is properly concluded.
- Attention to Detail: Careful and precise when reviewing installations, recording information and verifying system functionality.
- Self-Motivated: Confident in taking responsibility for assigned work and committed to delivering dependable results.
- Problem-Solving: Demonstrates sound judgement and a logical approach when assessing faults and determining suitable corrective measures.
