Environmental Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Compliance: Carry out assigned duties in accordance with the Business’s internal management procedures, safety protocols and applicable operational standards.
• Waste Collection: Retrieve different categories of discarded material from client locations and prepare them securely for onward handling.
• Site Preparation: Assist with the controlled removal of materials, secure packing activities and thorough cleaning of affected work areas.
• Protective Equipment: Wear decontamination and personal safety gear correctly, keeping all equipment clean, functional and ready for use.
• Container Loading: Transfer prepared materials into suitable containers ahead of transport or export arrangements.
• Identification and Labelling: Ensure packages and storage units are marked accurately according to the relevant handling requirements.
• Site Supplies: Collect and organise the consumable materials needed to complete field-based assignments.
• Vehicles and Machinery: Operate the Company’s transport and work equipment carefully, responsibly and only for authorised purposes.
• General Assistance: Undertake additional practical duties necessary to support the Business’s daily activities.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

• Education: No formal academic qualification has been specified; however, relevant occupational training would be advantageous.
• Experience: Previous exposure to environmental services, waste operations, industrial work or another practical field would be beneficial.
• Driving Licences: Candidates holding a valid Maltese or EU Category B driving licence will be given preference.
• Equipment Licences: A recognised forklift or cherry-picker licence would be considered an advantage.
• Language Skills: A good command of spoken English is required to understand instructions and communicate effectively at work.
• Communication Skills: Able to listen carefully, follow directions and report operational or safety concerns clearly.
• Interpersonal Skills: Cooperative and respectful, with the ability to work effectively alongside supervisors and colleagues.
• Technical Skills: Comfortable using protective gear, decontamination apparatus, work vehicles and operational equipment correctly.
• Organisation: Capable of preparing supplies, arranging materials and completing assigned duties in an orderly manner.
• Safety Awareness: Demonstrates a responsible approach when working around controlled substances and potentially hazardous environments.
• Self-Motivated: Dependable, hardworking and prepared to contribute wherever operational support is needed.
• Problem-Solving: Able to respond sensibly to practical challenges while remaining within established safety procedures.
