Role Overview

The Finance Executive will contribute to the smooth running of the Company’s daily accounting activities. The position covers supplier accounts, billing, banking entries, asset records, stock-related finance tasks and periodic reporting, making it suitable for an organised finance professional seeking broader practical exposure.

Key Responsibilities

• Supplier Accounts: Review requests for new supplier records, record incoming invoices and compare supplier statements against the Company’s accounting information to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Banking Activities: Match bank movements and payment-service-provider activity against internal records, enter outgoing transactions and contribute to the preparation of supplier payment runs.
• Asset Register: Set up and update records for the Business’s tangible assets, ensuring that relevant financial information remains complete and current.
• Accounting Entries: Compile and record general ledger adjustments, ensuring that supporting calculations and documentation are properly maintained.
• Customer Billing: Generate sales invoices and coordinate billing between related entities in accordance with internal processes and agreed timelines.
• Month-End Support: Assist with periodic account preparation by calculating accrued expenses and prepaid costs, examining ledger balances and completing supporting account checks.
• Business Reporting: Produce recurring information relating to digital payments, available cash, insurance declarations, stock movements and other finance-related matters.
• Tax Information: Compile monthly and quarterly VAT summaries and help ensure that the underlying figures are accurate and available when required.
• Cash Administration: Oversee small-cash transactions, retain the necessary records and regularly confirm that the balance agrees with recorded expenditure.
• Inventory Support: Participate in physical stock counts and assist with the preparation and evaluation of inventory data for financial and operational reporting.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

• Education: A Higher Diploma in Accounting at MQF Level 5 is required. Candidates should also be working towards the ACCA qualification.
• Experience: At least one year of relevant experience within an accounting or finance position is expected.
• Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
• Communication Skills: Able to present financial information clearly and communicate effectively with colleagues, suppliers and other stakeholders.
• Interpersonal Skills: A cooperative and professional approach, with the ability to contribute positively within a wider finance team.
• Technical Skills: Comfortable using accounting systems, spreadsheets and other business software, supported by sound numerical and financial capability.
• Analytical Thinking: Capable of examining financial information, detecting inconsistencies and drawing practical conclusions from available data.
• Organisation: Able to manage recurring deadlines, maintain orderly documentation and handle several accounting activities simultaneously.
• Self-Motivated: Demonstrates initiative, reliability and a willingness to develop further knowledge through both practical experience and professional studies.
• Problem-Solving: Uses careful judgement to investigate differences, address routine accounting issues and escalate more complex matters appropriately.
