Role Overview
We are seeking an Associate – Tax Advisory to join our Client’s tax team, supporting a varied portfolio of domestic and international clients. The role offers exposure to tax advisory and compliance assignments, with responsibilities ranging from preparing technical advice and statutory submissions to helping clients organise their affairs in line with applicable fiscal requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Tax Advisory: Support clients with matters relating to direct taxation, providing practical guidance based on their individual or business circumstances.
- Technical Tax Advice: Research taxation matters and prepare clear, well-supported written advice and technical assessments for clients.
- Tax Compliance: Assist with the completion and submission of income tax documentation, refund applications and other required tax filings.
- Client Obligations: Guide clients through their fiscal responsibilities, helping to ensure that relevant requirements and statutory deadlines are properly addressed.
- Corporate Tax Planning: Support clients in evaluating appropriate and tax-efficient approaches to the organisation of their corporate and fiscal arrangements.
- Private Client Taxation: Assist individuals with taxation matters connected to the residency programmes and fiscal schemes applicable to their circumstances.
- Audit Coordination: Work closely with auditors and other professionals to address taxation-related queries and provide the information required for their assignments.
- Client Service: Build professional relationships with existing and prospective clients, responding promptly to enquiries and providing a dependable standard of service.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
- Education: An ACCA qualification or an equivalent recognised professional accountancy qualification is required.
- Experience: A minimum of one to two years of relevant professional experience within taxation or a closely related area is required.
- Language Skills: Excellent written and spoken English is required to succeed in this role. Knowledge of Maltese and Italian would be considered an advantage.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with the confidence to explain taxation matters clearly and professionally.
- Interpersonal Skills: A client-focused approach with the ability to develop positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, auditors and other professional contacts.
- Technical Skills: A sound understanding of Maltese taxation together with familiarity with international tax matters and related compliance requirements.
- Organisation: Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple assignments, priorities and statutory deadlines effectively.
- Self-Motivated: Able to take ownership of assigned work and operate independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Problem-Solving: Capable of assessing tax-related matters, carrying out appropriate research and identifying practical solutions suited to each client’s circumstances.
